we believe safe spaces shouldn't be a luxury in fitness—they should be the standard.

As our community grows, we’re holding tight to what matters: inclusivity, support, and showing up with care. Whether we’re moving together online, in-person, or just hanging out: these guidelines are here to help us keep Body Positive Fitness a safe, welcoming space for every body.

To help keep Body Positive Fitness a space where everyone feels respected, seen, and safe, we ask our community to keep the following in mind:

Use mindful language. Let’s steer clear of talking about bodies or food in ways that carry judgment. That means avoiding labels like “good” or “bad” for food, and not treating any body type as more valuable than another.

No diet talk. We don’t discuss dieting, weight loss, or body transformation goals here. We know that everyone’s relationship with their body is personal — but our space is intentionally free from conversations about changing bodies.

Respect all food choices. We understand some folks have food restrictions for all kinds of reasons, but we ask that you keep discussions about restrictive eating outside our shared spaces. We want everyone to feel safe, included, and unjudged around food.

Avoid body commentary. Bodies change; that’s human. But we keep comments about weight gain, weight loss, or physical changes private, so that this space stays supportive for everyone, no matter where they’re at.

Support each other with care. Many in our community are navigating body image challenges, eating disorder recovery, or unlearning harmful beliefs about movement and health. Let’s move with empathy and make space for healing together.

By following these guidelines, you're helping build a community rooted in kindness, respect, and radical inclusivity. Your words matter. Your presence matters. And we’re so glad you’re here.

thank you

a letter to our community

At Body Positive Fitness, we stand in solidarity with Black, Indigenous, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, and all marginalized communities. We wholeheartedly condemn racism, homophobia, transphobia, police brutality, and all forms of systemic oppression, both in Canada and around the world. No matter the political climate, this community will always be a home for those seeking safety, affirmation, and belonging.

We’re committed to creating spaces that are anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and truly inclusive. That commitment shows up in how we work, who we collaborate with, and how we shape every part of the BPF experience.

Our fitness spaces are intentionally free from diet culture and rooted in compassion. Movement here is about connection, not control. Through our Class Fund, we help reduce financial barriers for folks from marginalized communities, and we continue building partnerships with organizations serving those often left out of traditional wellness spaces.

We recognize that our leadership team is white. That means we have a responsibility to listen, learn, and act. We’re committed to hiring a diverse team, compensating consultants from marginalized groups fairly, and continuing our education so we can better serve our community with care and integrity.

Our internal policies around anti-racism, anti-oppression, and anti-harassment are living documents that we update regularly. We also welcome your feedback. If there’s something we can do better, we want to hear from you.

To everyone in our community: we see you, we value you, and we’re with you. Always. Together, we’ll keep building a more inclusive, equitable, and supportive world—one where every body belongs.
